Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment may have been delayed until 2024 – but a delay is all it is. For some it’s a relief, and for others it’s another year of uncertainty and more time for HRMC to move the goal posts.

And while that train might have slowed (talking of trains, they’re never on time either) there’s a sense of busyness as other challenges and opportunities present themselves, oh and then there’s Christmas.

How SMEs do business is changing and it’s never felt more important to us to take an approach that helps you develop and adapt your businesses to thrive and, ultimately, achieve what matters most to you.

To that end, we are finally able to share some very exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that Bradninch-based Sally Livsey Money Help is joining the Merlin family.

“As fellow professionals we have always had great respect for Sally,” says our founder and managing director, Giles Corby. “We are delighted that Sally has entrusted us to continue and to build on what she has achieved. We know she is going to be a brilliant asset to us and the people and businesses we serve.”

The baton has now been passed into the hands of Merlin Accountancy Services, says Sally Livsey. “Things have been hotting up over recent years across the digital landscape with even bigger changes to come in 2024. I have felt for a while that these changes deserve more attention than I will be able to give, and so I decided to seek out a team that could be trusted to carry the baton.

“I am delighted to have found a firm that not only shares my values and levels of professional care, but can also offer a wider range of expertise, services, and networks that will benefit clients as we transition to new ways of managing our businesses and accounts.”

And we’re thrilled to have Sally join us in a consultancy role over the next 12 months, adds Giles. “I’m convinced it is the start of something very good for both of us and our clients.”

Taking an additional leap to better serve our clients and support new talent in the industry, we’re recruiting! Merlin Accountancy Services are looking to welcome an enthusiastic and diligent assistant apprentice to the team in the new year and so far applicants are looking strong.

Interviews will be taking place before Christmas 2022.

Our commitments remain:

  • Keep you fully informed about what’s happening with your affairs, and complete every task on or ahead of time – so that you never have to chase us,
  • Operate on the principle that a problem isn’t solved, or a piece of work finished, until you are 100% happy with what’s been achieved,
  • Reply to every telephone message and e-mail within 24 hours – usually on the day you contact us – and to send reply to every letter on the day we receive it,
  • Send you back your finished accounts within 30 days of us receiving all of the required records,
  • A fixed price for every single piece of work – bills will never be more than the price you agreed,
  • Always be on the lookout for new ideas that could help you to build an even more successful business and achieve your goals,
  • Continue to invest in technology, training and people to make sure that we deliver on providing you with the best advice and service possible.

No question is too small, it’s what we are here for, our clients say that it’s useful to have a numerate friend prodding their thinking, especially one who understands the issues. You’ll find us a good fit if you’re looking for an accountant as an investment – rather than just a cost.
